Christopher Scott

Consulting Actuary II

Christopher Scott is a health actuary with more than 15 years of experience including Medicare Advantage bid pricing, ACA pricing and rate filing, forecasting, reserving, and risk adjustment. He has worked in multiple lines of business, leveraging his leadership, analytical, technical and soft skills to implement innovative solutions for a wide range of challenges across business functions.

Before joining Wakely Consulting Group, an HMA Company, Christopher had a variety of positions with UnitedHealth Group. Most recently, he served UnitedHealthcare’s Medicaid Risk Adjustment department as a director, where he managed a multi-layered team to optimize existing risk adjustment programs and identify opportunities for new programs across business areas. He successfully implemented market-level risk adjustment program performance reporting that facilitated an ongoing strategic partnership with market leadership and improved encounters submission timelines and accuracy to close gaps in programs.

Working as an associate director for UnitedHealthcare’s Medicare Advantage team, Christopher certified bids, and provided support during desk review and financial activity audit. With OptumHealth, he was an actuarial consultant and responsible for reserving, forecasting, and intersegment pricing. He supported new product pricing and development efforts worth $1.5 billion in projected revenue across internal and external product, sales, and actuarial teams.

Christopher developed his technical proficiencies as well as many of his soft skills working as an actuarial analyst with US Health & Life Insurance Co., and with UnitedHealthcare’s Healthcare Economics, ACA Pricing, and Medicare Advantage teams.

Christopher received a bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University in Mathematics, minoring in Statistics and Economics. He is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
