Kelsey Stevens, FSA, MAAA, MBA, is a Director & Senior Consulting Actuary at Wakely. She joined the firm in 2012 and has 13 years of experience as a health actuary. Prior to joining Wakely, Kelsey spent just over a year at a small health and life consulting firm and 5 years at a large Florida health insurance company. She provides assistance to a variety of managed care entities including HMOs, PPOs, insurance companies, employers, and risk taking healthcare providers on actuarial and financial issues. Kelsey has extensive experience with rate development for publicly sponsored managed care programs including Medicaid and Medicare.
Kelsey provides assistance analyzing detailed claims experience, projecting medical expense budgets, analyzing provider contracts, evaluating unpaid claim liabilities, and conducting risk adjustment analysis. She also provides assistance to managed care entities regarding Medicare and Medicaid risk contracts, including rate range negotiations, feasibility studies, medical expense developments and rate certifications. She supports ancillary healthcare insurance companies with rate setting, evaluation of liabilities, and budget development as well.
Kelsey is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. She graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science and Statistics and a Master of Business Administration. Kelsey is a frequent speaker at actuarial meetings and the co-chair of the Value Based Care Strategic Initiative for the Society of Actuaries. She was recently elected by her peers to serve a three-year term on the Health Section leadership council.
